Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes will remain director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) until at least 20 December 2027, following a two-year renewal of her commission by order of the Secretary for Economy and Finance. The renewed term begins on 20 December this year.
Senna Fernandes was first appointed to the position in 2012 and has overseen Macao’s tourism development ever since. Her latest reappointment was testament to her “suitable management skills and professional experience in performing her duties,” according to Secretary for Economy and Finance Tai Kin Ip.
A business management graduate of the University of East Asia (now the University of Macau) and fluent in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Portuguese, Senna Fernandes began her career in the Civil Service in 1988.
