Air Macau opened a new direct flight between the SAR and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on Wednesday, TDM reports. This follows its inaugural flight to Jakarta, Indonesia, in late November.
The airline Air Macau will operate four flights per week to Malaysia’s capital – departing Monday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday – as well as four return services.
Air Macau’s general manager, Zhu Paibo, told media that the airline had heeded the government’s push to connect Macao to more international destinations, in line with the city’s aim to increase the flow of foreign visitors.

Malaysia is Macao’s ninth biggest inbound tourism source, and has been identified as a priority market by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO). Last year, the Malaysia Macau Chamber of Commerce called for more flights between the SAR and the Southeast Asian country.
The Malaysian-headquartered budget airline Air Asia also offers direct flights between Macao and Kuala Lumpur.
MGTO has been organising Islamic Culture in Tourism workshops to help local hospitality workers better cater to Muslim visitors from places like Malaysia, Indonesia and the Middle East.
