Drivers crossing the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge (HZMB) this Labour Day holiday will not have to pay the usual 150 yuan toll, with the bridge authority announcing a full waiver for small passenger vehicles with seven seats or fewer.
The toll-free period runs from midnight on 1 May through to midnight on 5 May, covering the entire five-day mainland holiday period.
The bridge authority expects significant congestion throughout the long break and has urged motorists to plan around predicted rush hours. Those heading into mainland China should brace for the heaviest traffic on the evening of 30 April, with further surges expected through the first few days of May.

For those returning from Zhuhai, the busiest periods are forecast for the afternoons and evenings of 3, 4 and 5 May.
Passenger traffic follows a similar pattern, with inbound peaks expected from the evening of 30 April through to early May, and outbound peaks concentrated in the mornings from 1 to 4 May.
The authority has reminded travellers approaching the Zhuhai-Macao port artificial island to follow instructions on electronic information boards. Motorists are advised to travel during off-peak hours where possible.
