Overnight visitors in Macau rise 14 per cent in March

Macau’s visitor arrivals rose by 4.2 per cent year-on-year to 2.36 million, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) has announced.

While overnight visitors increased by 14.1 per cent to 1.17 million, same-day visitors dropped by 3.9 per cent to 1.19 million. Overnight visitors accounted for 49.6 per cent of all visitor arrivals last month.

Most overnight visitors were from the mainland (722,700), Hong Kong (281,700), Taiwan (35,000), and South Korea (22.8 per cent).

The total number of visitor arrivals in the first quarter rose by 0.6 per cent to 7.45 million.

Mainlanders and Hongkongers accounted for 62.7 per cent and 23.8 per cent of all visitors last month respectively.

While visitor arrivals from South Korea fell by 4.4 per cent to 41,700 in March, Hong Kong visitor arrivals rose by 10.5 per cent to 563,400. Mainland Chinese visitors rose 1.8 per cent to 1.48 million.
