November visitors rise 9.4 pct to 2.8 million

The city’s visitor arrivals last month rose 9.4 percent year on year to 2.83 million, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said in a statement Thursday.

The city’s visitor arrivals last month rose 9.4 percent year on year to 2.83 million, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) said in a statement Thursday.

However, the number was down 1.9 percent from the previous month.
The daily average of visitor arrivals stood at 94,435 in November.

Overnight visitors, up 10 percent year on year, accounted for 53.3 percent of all visitor arrivals. Overnight visitors’ stay averaged at 2.1 days.

Mainlanders accounted for 69.9 percent of all visitor arrivals. While the number of mainland visitors rose 16.1 percent year on year, the number of Hong Kong visitors fell 6.8 percent to 470,800 last month, or 16.6 percent of the total.

The number of visitor arrivals in the first 11 months rose 5.1 percent to 29.55 million including 13.9 million same-day visitors.

Some 8.4 percent of all visitors between January and November arrived by air.
