Macau, China, 10 Oct – Nearly 776,000 National Day “Golden Week” tourists visited Macau between October 1 and Friday, The Macau Post Daily reports today, citing figures released by the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO).

According to an MGTO statement, the number of National Day “Golden Week” visitor arrivals rose 13.3 percent year-on-year.

Visitors from the greater China area – mainland, Taiwan and Hong Kong – accounted for 93.4 percent of the total number.

The number of mainland visitors reached 580,350, up 22.3 percent year-on-year.

The city’s three- to five-star hotel logged an average occupancy rate of 88.46 percent during the “Golden Week, down 1.54 percent from the same holiday period of last year.

A daily average of 18,730 hotel rooms was booked during the holiday week, a year-on-year growth of 8.7 percent.

Macau’s three-star hotels recorded an average room occupancy rate of 91.2 percent, (down 0.15 percent), while four-star hotels reported a rate of 82.1 percent (down 4.7 percent). Five-star hotel enjoyed the highest rate, at 92 percent, marginally up 0.26 percent.

The average room rate of guesthouses stood at 393 patacas (up 44.6 percent) per night. Two-star hotel charged an average rate of 715 patacas (up 41 percent). Three-start hotels’ average rate amounted to 1,530 patacas (up 24.7 percent). Four-star hotels’ average rate stood at 1,465 patacas (up 34.8 percent). Five-star hotel charged an average rate of 2,283 patacas per night, a year-on-year increase of 16.8 percent.(MacauNews/Tourism)
