The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) is running a four-day extravaganza in Chongqing this week to promote Macao as a safe and highly attractive destination.
Starting on Thursday, “Macao Week in Chongqing” will be held in Jiefangbei Square in Chongqing’s Yuzhong district and will feature themed booths such as the MAK MAK Shop and “A Glimpse into Macao Grand Prix Museum”, as well as a “Showcase of Macao’s Tourism Industry”.
The event will move into top gear on Friday with performances by an array of singers and dancers.
The MGTO added that a seminar will present the city’s “latest tourism situation and promote its tourism resources and products”, while Macao’s gastronomy will be showcased with Macanese and Portuguese buffets by the Westin Chongqing Liberation Square and Macau Cuisine Association.
The MGTO noted that over “RMB 100 million in special travel offers on air tickets, hotel accommodation, dining and more will be for sale at the roadshow”.
The MGTO added that the event is an effort to attract visitors from the mainland to boost Macao’s economy in general and tourism sector in particular, noting that the event will mark the fifth event this year following previous iterations in Chengdu, Hangzhou, Nanjing, and Shanghai, The Macau Post Daily reported.
