Macau’s visitors rise in July

Macau’s number of visitor arrivals rose by18.5 percent month-to-month and 5.5 percent year-on-year to 2.79 million last month, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced on Tuesday.

Overnight visitors rose by 12.4 per cent year-on-year to 1.45 million, representing 12 consecutive months of year-on-year growth since August last year. However, same-day visitors dropped by 1.0 per cent year-on-year to 1.34 million.
Visitors’ average length of stay remained unchanged at 1.2 days. Overnight visitors stayed for an average of 2.1 days.

Mainlanders and Hongkongers accounted for 65.8 per cent and 22.1 per cent of all visitor arrivals last month respectively.

Mainland and Hong Kong visitor arrivals rose by 4.7 per cent and 5.5 per cent respectively.

South Korean visitors rose 40.3 per cent to 52,000 in July, the highest growth of any major visitor segment.

In the first seven months of the year, visitor arrivals increased by 0.9 per cent year-on-year to 17.56 million.
