The director of the Macau Government Tourist Office (MGTO), Helena de Senna Fernandes said in Nanning that the government want to diversify the place from where mainland tourists came to Macau.

Senna Fernandes said that the majority of the  visitors came to Macau from Guangdong province  and the government want to change that trend making Macau also attractive for tourists from other places in mainland China.

“At the moment, we have a lot of tourists coming during festivities and over the weekends. During the week, visitors come here mainly on business or through incentive trips,” she said.

The director of MGTO said what the Macau government want  the tourists  to stay, at least,  one  night in Macau in order to support the hotels, restaurants and other businesses.

Senna Fernandes also said that the activities in Nanning, are consistent with the idea “to promote Macau in China in order to diversify the sources of visitors from China, so that we can have tourists from other provinces besides Guangdong”.

Senna Fernandes visited Nanning with Macau Chief Executive Chui Sai On for a Macau promotion in the Chinese Autonomous Region.

In 2013 more then 400,000 tourists from this Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region visited Macau.(macaunews)
