Macau’s number of visitor arrivals rose 1.6 per cent year-on-year and 10.4 per cent month-on-month to 2.67 million in October, the Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) announced on Wednesday.

A DSEC statement attributed the two-digit month-on-month increase to the National Day “Golden Week” holiday in the first week of last month.

Overnight visitors rose 12.1 per cent year-on-year to 1.37 million, accounting for 51.2 per cent of the total, while same-day visitors dropped 7.6 per cent to 1.3 million.

Visitors’ average length of stay rose 0.1 day year-on-year to 1.2 days. The average stay of overnight visitors was 2.2 days. Visitors from the mainland rose 0.4 per cent year-on-year to 1.82 million, or 68.1 per cent of the total.

A total of 514,273 Hong Kong residents visited Macau in October, up 22.1 per cent year-on-year. Hongkongers accounted for 19.2 per cent of all visitor arrivals. In the first 10 months, visitor arrivals rose 0.2 per cent to 25.54 million.
