Macao’s 123 hotels recorded 5.1 million guests last year, a year-on-year drop of 22.8 per cent, the Statistics and Census Bureau has announced.
Mainland Chinese, whose number fell 28.1 per cent to 3.8 million, accounted for three-quarters of all hotel guests. The number of local staycationers rose 1.5 per cent to 907,000. Staycationers accounted for nearly 18 per cent of all hotel guests.
Guests’ length of stay remained unchanged at 1.8 nights.
Hotels’ average room occupancy rate dropped 11.7 percentage points to 38.4 per cent, The Macau Post Daily reported.
