Cross-boundary fireworks shows are set to get the National Day Golden Week holiday off to a flying start at the beginning of October in the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and Macao.

Two discharge points will be set up in the water areas of Zhuhai and Macao, with the firework shows’ design and arrangements specifically made to ensure the fireworks discharged at the two sites correspond with each other.

In addition, light and water shows will be held on Hengqin’s Tianmu River during the week-long holiday that will begin on National Day on 1 October, featuring “elements of Hengqin-Macao cooperation” with the use of light and shadow effects.

The Zone will also host other tourism, cultural and sports activities in Hengqin throughout the rest of the year, including four tai chi – dubbed traditional Chinese shadow boxing – training courses, each containing 12 lessons, as well as yoga and coffee-making courses.

The Zone’s Livelihood Affairs Bureau is also planning to organise the Hengqin Tianmu River Grassland Music Festival and some badminton competitions, to attract more arts and sports development in Hengqin.
