Macau, China, 15 Sept – Macau’s 94 hotels and guesthouses received 795,827 guests in July, hitting a new all-time record, according to official tourism statistics cited by The Macau Post Daily today.

The previous record stood at 727,512 in December last year.

July’s number of hotel guests was up 21.5 percent year-on-year. Month-to-month, the figure was up 13 percent.

Mainlanders and Hong Kong residents accounted for 54.2 percent and 21.5 percent of all hotel guests respectively.

At the end of July, the total number of guest rooms rose 10.5 percent year-on-year to 21,804. Five-star hotels accounted for 62.8 percent of the total number of rooms.

The average occupancy rate reached a record high of 88.2 percent, up 8.2 percent year-on-year. Four-star hotel occupancy rates stood at 93.1 percent.

Guests’ average length of stay remained basically unchanged at just 1.4 nights.

In the first seven months of this year, the hospitality industry logged 4.78 million guests, up 4.1 percent year-on-year.(Macaunews/Tourism)
