Macau’s Chinese New Year visitor arrivals rose 13.6 percent to 1.28 million compared to last year’s holiday period, the Government Information Bureau (GCS) announced Tuesday.

The city’s seven border checkpoints logged 3.73 million departures and arrivals by locals and visitors between February 8 and Sunday 17.

The Barrier Gate checkpoint recorded nearly two thirds of all Chinese New Year border crossings.

The Cross-border Industrial Park checkpoint, which operates around the clock, recorded 11,133 border crossings by special permit holders.

The local airport logged 151,679 departing and arriving passengers, just four percent of the total number of border crossings.(macaunews)
