Macau, China, 4 Oct – Mainland China’s Panda Fireworks Group won the 23rd Macau International Fireworks Display Contest on Sunday, coinciding with National Day.

According to a statement by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO), the winner won a cash prize of US$8,000 (64,000 patacas). Tamaya Kitahara Fireworks from Japan finished in second and Brezac Artifices from France in third place, taking home US$4,000 and US$2,500, respectively.

A total of 10 companies from mainland China, Canada, South Korea, Japan, United Kingdom, Austria, Taiwan, Philippines, Portugal and France competed this time.

The statement cited MGTO Director Joao Manual Costa Antunes as saying that nine of the 10 companies competed in previous pyrotechnic contests in Macau.

The contest is held annually by the government that bears the competitors’ expenses.(MacauNews/Tourism)
