Macau, China, 21 Aug – Around 17.6 million visitors entered Macau in the first seven months of the year, which was a year on year rise of 18.5 percent, officials said.

According to the Macau Statistics and Census Bureau, of that total 10.3 million were from China.

According to the Bureau, between January and July, the number of visitors from China rose 27.5 percent and those from Hong Kong rose 0.2 percent whilst the number of visitors from Taiwan fell 4.7 percent.

In July 2.66 million visitors entered Macau, which represented a rise of 20.7 percent against July 2007.

In July the number of visitors form China (1.533 million) and Hong Kong (778,000) rose by 29.9 percent and 8.8 percent respectively, whilst the number of visitors from Taiwan (115,000) fell 7 percent.

In 2007 Macau received 27 million tourists, which was a rise of 22.7 percent on 2006.(MacauNews)
