The 7th Macau International Travel (Industry) Expo organised by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) ended yesterday.

A total of 452 tourism-related entities from 53 countries and regions participated in the annual fair, which kicked off on Friday. The expo was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in Beijing.

MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said at Friday’s opening ceremony the annual expo’s aim was to enhance global tourism cooperation and support Macau’s transformation into a world centre of tourism and leisure.

The three-day event presented various highlights, including a pavilion in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland, Macau’s role as a service platform between China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and gastronomy’s involvement in sustainable development.

The fair also offered interactive experiences combining cultural, creative and tourism elements.

The exhibition area was doubled from last year to 22,000 square meters this time, accommodating a record number of 835 standard booths.
