Macao welcomed 17,875 visitors last Friday and 16,540 on Saturday and the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) recorded 114,113 visitor arrivals between 3 September and Friday, with a daily average of 16,302, indicating an increase of 52.5 per cent compared to the daily average of 10,690 last month.
The MGTO also noted that as of Saturday, 2,802 participants had signed up for Stay, Dine and See Macao tours, while 40,563 residents had taken part in staycations, with 14,881 hotel packages sold.
From 1 January to 10 September, 138,701 residents signed up for the programme, of which 36,902 people joined local tours, 101,799 people booked staycations, and 40,720 hotel packages were sold, The Macau Post Daily reported.
During the first two days of the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, about 130 people participated in local tours, which helped boost Macao’s community tourism sector.
