The Public Security Police (PSP) released Monday figures  for border crossings during from September 29 to October 7, with the city logging a total of 3.26 million during the nine-day period.

A PSP spokesperson had forecast about three million border crossings.

The mainland’s eight-day Golden Week holiday ended on Sunday.

Mid-Autumn Festival this year fell on September 30, the day before National Day on October 1. The mainland annually celebrates the National Day holiday with a week off, popularly known as Golden Week. This year’s Golden Week started one day early because of the Mid-Autumn Festival.

According to the PSP data, visitor arrivals during the nine-day period reached 1.06 million, a 7.05 percent year-on-year increase.

Last year’s seven-day Golden Week holiday recorded 776,000 visitor arrivals, a year-on-year increase of 13.3 percent.(macaunews)
