Hundreds of exhibitors and buyers are expected to engage online and offline at the 10th Macao International Travel (Industry) Expo (MITE).
The expo, themed Cheers for 10th MITE, is due to take place from 23-25 September at the Venetian’s Cotai Expo Halls. Admission is free.
The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) noted that industry operators can offer many business opportunities, while the exhibition covers around 23,000 square metres and will accommodate over 842 booths.
There are 471 exhibitors registered for participation, with 197 local exhibitors and 247 mainland Chinese exhibitors offline, and 27 online exhibitors (24 international exhibitors and three mainland Chinese exhibitors), the statement underlined. A total of 286 buyers have signed up for the fair, with 221 offline and 65 online.
Meanwhile, the MGTO pointed out that the expo will have seven major highlights to deepen “tourism+” integration, including the Lusofonia Pavilion, Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin and the Palace Museum as a new exhibitor.
The local tourism industry zone will also set up the Macao Street and, for the first time, the COTAI Strip. Other highlights include the City of Gastronomy culinary demonstrations and the Gastronomy Pavilion.
Advanced appointments can be made online, while free admission tickets will be distributed at the entrances of Halls A and C. Free shuttle bus services and free parking at Hall C car park will be available, the statement said.
The MGTO underlined that the expo will adopt strict Covid-19 pandemic prevention measures and that members of the public can schedule their visits on the website or queue for admission without appointment, depending on the day’s visitor stream.
Moreover, visitors with prior appointments can get a MOP 10 receipt upon admission, counting as part of the required consumption quota to enter the grand lucky draw.
Supported by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the expo is organised by MGTO and coordinated by Macao Travel Agency Association. Co-organisers include the Economic and Technological Development Bureau and Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, The Macau Post Daily reported.
MGTO Director Maria Helena de Senna Fernandes said the expo was accredited by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry as an Approved International Event in 2021, and that MGTO’s dedication will “continue in pursuit of excellence, innovation, quality and impact, as we strive to deliver Macao’s unique strengths and impact at the Expo”. She added that the event aims to deepen “tourism+” integration and contribute to Macao’s tourism offerings.
