The 2023 SJM Macao International Dragon Boat Races will be held at the Nam Van Lake Nautical Centre in June, the Sports Bureau announced yesterday.
Organisers have promised a “traditional, carnival-style atmosphere”.
International invitational races and university races, both suspended since 2020 because of the Covid-19 pandemic, make their return on 22 June.
Local races will be held on 17 June for the small boat category and on 18 June for standard-sized dragon boats.
Speaking at a press conference to launch the event, Daisy Ho, the managing director of sponsors SJM Resorts, said the company was honoured to “continue to showcase traditional Chinese sports culture, nurture young talent, and draw international attention to this intangible cultural heritage”.
