The Macau government announced today that a third government-designated hotel for the local government’s quarantine measure – the Regency Art Hotel – opened Thursday, as the Pousada Marina Infante hotel and the Golden Crown China Hotel with 300 rooms will soon be fully occupied.

The 326-room Regency Art Hotel is located in Taipa Island.

The Government Information Bureau (GCS) in a statement said, “In view of the continuous increase of returnees, local authorities have been working to find more suitable hotels for medical observation.”

“The novel coronavirus pneumonia is transmitted through close contact of droplets and will not be transmitted through the air, so residents nearby need not worry,” the statement also said.

It was also mentioned that returnees receiving medical observation in designated hotels is considered safer than home observation.

The statement also mentioned that those currently quarantined and under medical observation have a history of close contact to COVID-19.

The Health Bureau requires those quarantined to undergo fever measure inspection twice a day and will be asked by phone if they are experiencing any discomfort. Those with fever or any suspicious symptoms will immediately be taken to the hospital for further examination.
