The Transportation Infrastructure Office (GIT) said in a statement on Monday that it accepted six bids for the construction of the Light Rapid Transit (LRT) system’s depot superstructures, adding that the proposals range from 888 million patacas to 1.38 billion patacas.
The six companies that submitted bids are Sam Yau Construction and Development Company Limited, China Road and Bridge Corporation, Chon Tit (Macau) Investment and Property Development Company Limited, CCECC (Macau) Limited, China (Macau) Construction Company Limited and Omas Construction Company Limited, according to the statement.
The statement said that Sociedade de Engenharia Soi Kun Limitada withdrew from the tender.
The six bidders’ completion periods range from 616 to 834 working days.
The office said in the statement that construction of the depot was expected to be restarted in the fourth quarter of this year.
According to previous media reports, the government cancelled the contract with the original depot project contractors due to severe delays and massive overspending. The contractors blamed the government for the debacle.
The first stage of city’s LRT is to comprise 18 stations, including 11 in Taipa and Cotai. The government said last month it expected the Taipa-Cotai LRT segment to start operating in 2019. Construction in Macau has still to get off the ground.
