Four people stayed overnight in the public Conde de San Januário Hospital Centre suffering from hypothermia, the Health Bureau (SSM) said Tuesday, advising residents to stay warm as the bitterly cold weather is forecast to persist for the next few days.
The four hypothermia patients went to the government-run hospital on Monday. While two of them have already returned home, two had to stay in another night for observation.
The temperature dropped today as low as 5 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau’s (SMG) forecast for today’s temperature is between 5 and 8 Celsius with patchy rain.
The statement did not specify any further information about the patients, but urged residents to stay warm, and for caregivers to pay special attention to elderly people and patients with chronic illnesses.(macaunews)
