Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On said on Monday that his government would render its full support to meet the needs of Chief Executive-elect Ho Iat Seng in forming his new government team, Xinhua reported.
In a meeting held at Government Headquarters, Chui congratulated Ho on winning the fifth chief executive election by securing a high number of votes on Sunday.
Chui said his government would continue to press ahead with existing policies and plans, in order to consolidate the strong basis for the special administrative region’s development and to maintain social stability and harmony.
He added that the his government would submit a report to the central government about Sunday’s election result and its proposal that Ho be appointed as the next chief executive, once the necessary legal procedures have been completed.
According to the Macau Post Daily, Ho expressed his gratitude to Chui and the government for their preparation work for the transition period. The Chief Executive-elect said his team would work closely with Chui’s office to ensure a smooth transition.
