The government is slated to submit it 2019 draft budget to the legislature next month.

Chui has been receiving a string of community leaders and scholars in the run-up to his 2019 Policy Address over the past few weeks to listen to their views on next year’s government policies.

The meetings are held behind closed doors. Yesterday, he received separately delegations from several public servants associations, including the Macau Civil Servants Association (ATFPM), and Caritas Macau.

ATFM president-cum-legislator Jose Pereira Coutinho told reporters after the closed door that his union was asking for a 5 percent salary increase for public servants next year. He also said the government should increase its annual wealth-sharing handout for permanent residents from 9,000 patacas to 12,000 patacas next year.
