Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On will pay his annual duty visit to Beijing next week, the government’s spokesperson announced yesterday.

According to the announcement, Chui will visit the national capital from next Monday to Thursday. He will be back in time to preside over celebrations marking the 14th anniversary of the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) on December 20.

The announcement said that Chui will be received by state leaders to present his government’s 2013 work report and a summary of his policy guidelines for next year.

Informed sources told The Macau Post Daily that Chui would most probably meet President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang during his four-day stay in the capital, apart from “routine” meetings with top officials of the State Council’s Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office.

The announcement also said that Chui would meet senior officials of the Foreign Ministry and National Tourism Administration.

Chui’s entourage will include his chief-of-cabinet, Alexis Tam Chon Weng, and Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) Director Victor Chan Chi Ping. Tam and Chan are the government’s chief and deputy spokespersons.

Secretary for Administration and Justice Florinda Chan Lai Man will be acting chief executive during Chui’s absence, the announcement said. (macaunews)
