Public bus operator Reolian Public Transport said Thursday in a statement that it has initiated judicial proceedings to obtain the payment of its service fees that it claims it is entitled to under its service provider agreement with the government.
The statement from Reolian said that the 23.3 percent increase of its service provider fees to be paid by the government was approved by Chief Executive Fernando Chui Sai On on June 21 last year.
“The fee revision is a contractual calculation made to compensate operator costs due to inflation,” it said, pointing out that in Reolian’s case, the fee revision was mainly due to a pay rise granted to its employees.
The Transport Bureau (DSAT) has not paid Reolian the revised fee from last to April, which amounts to 36,595,900.30 patacas, the statement claims.
“[…] After sending numerous letters, meetings and discussions with the Macau government during the past year to resolve this matter, Reolian was left without any other alternative but to initiate judicial proceedings today [yesterday] in order to obtain payment of all invoices in connection to the fee revision,” The Macau Post Daily cited the statement as saying.
The company vowed to continue to provide its service nonetheless “in the hope that the financial entitlements in the revised fees and other claims will be recognised by Macau’s courts.”
The Transport Bureau (DSAT) said in a statement that it respects Reolian’s decision, but pointed out that the government is also aware of the public’s suggestion that the revision of the city’s public bus service provider fees should be based on the quality ofeach of the three operators’ service.(macaunews)
