Chief Executive Electoral Management Committee President Song Man Lei said Wednesday the committee would improve the way the votes are counted in the election of members of the Chief Executive Election Commission.

However, she also said that the committee needed more time to discuss the matter so she was unable to elaborate.

Song, one of three Court of Final Appeal (TUI) judges, made the remarks to reporters after the second meeting of the five-member committee at the Public Administration Building in Rua do Campo.

Song also said that during the closed-door meeting the committee members decided on the format of the forms that will be used in the election.

There are 825 associations that have the right to elect representatives for the election of 344 of the 400-member Chief Executive Election Commission while the remaining 56 members will be selected through negotiations or are ex-officio members.

The election of 344 of the 400 members of the Chief Executive Election Commission will be held on June 29, according to a previous government announcement.(macaunews/macaupost)
