The Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG) expects the temperature to drop to 6° Celsius today. with 85% of humidity.
According to SMG meteorologist Antonio Cheong, a sudden drop in temperature such as this is not atypical for this time of year, while the winter period hasn’t yet given way to warmer days.
“It is normal for this time of the year and it has happened in previous years too, so it’s not really special,” the meteorologist told the Macau Daily Times.
Caused by the winter monsoons hitting Macau, the slump in temperature occurred last weekend and peaked on Monday, when temperatures hit 8°C.
Antonio Cheong explained that today will be cooler, with temperatures dropping to 6°C – making it the coldest day of the week.
Temperatures will gradually increase, but the weather will only be warmer toward the weekend, with temperatures due to reach 13°C.
Antonio Cheong added that for a great part of the week, the weather will be mainly cloudy and the occurrence of showers is expected too.
The government’s winter shelter, located in the Ilha Verde neighborhood, will stay open while the weather remains cold. (macaunews)
