Macao’s neighbour Hong Kong has been ranked as the sixth best city for Gen Z in Asia, according to a recent Time Out survey. The top spot goes to Bangkok, followed by Shanghai and Beijing in second and third place, respectively.
To determine its rankings, Time Out collected data from people under-30s in cities all over the world, asking them to give their opinion on their city’s nightlife, food, culture and walkability.
The publisher notes that Hong Kong stands out for its diverse culinary scene as well as impressive nightlife offerings. Furthermore, the city’s compact and walkable layout is complemented by an efficient public transport system.

Meanwhile, Bangkok and Shanghai feature first and last respectively on Time Out’s 2025 list for the world’s top 10 cities for Gen Z, while Hong Kong does not make it on the wider list.
Gen Z, short for “Generation Z”, refers to “people who were born in the late 1990s and early 2000s.”
