The spring session of the 135th China Import and Export Fair – better known as the Canton Fair – is scheduled to take place in Guangzhou’s Canton Fair Complex in three phases between 15 April and 5 May, according to an official announcement.
With a 67-year history, the biannual fair is China’s oldest and largest. Local media reports that more than 28,000 firms are expected to join this year’s gathering, which has an exhibition area of 1.55 million square metres.
As in previous years, the fair will be held in three phases that each focus on different categories of products.

The first phase (electronics and machinery) is scheduled to take place from 15 to 19 April, while the second phase (household goods and furniture) will be held from 23 to 27 April, before giving way to phase three (textiles, clothing and other consumer products), which will run between 1 and 5 May.
Over 400 people from Macao’s business sector attend the event each year, according to a TDM report that cited figures from the Canton Fair’s organiser, the China Foreign Trade Centre.
During a Macao-held promotional conference for the fair, Elaine Wong, a representative of the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (also known by its Portuguese initials IPIM), said that her department hoped the fair would “attract even more domestic and overseas investors.”
