A local man who returned to Macao from the Philippines on Wednesday has shown an abnormality in his antibody test for Covid-19, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has announced.

The 29-year-old – who had been working in the Philippines for a long time – tested negative in a nucleic acid test (NAT) on landing in Macao after flying via Tokyo and Taipei.

After the test result showed an “abnormality”, he was transferred to the Health Bureau’s Public Health Clinical Centre for quarantine and medical observation, where he will undergo follow-up NATs and serology tests, The Macau Post Daily reported.

According to officials at the centre, seven Macao residents who returned from overseas earlier this month tested positive for the novel coronavirus in their antibody tests. None have so far been classified as Covid-19 patients.
