Macao hoist typhoon warning signal No. 9 at 02:30 on Wednesday, announced the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (GCS).
Signal No. 8 was raised at 23:00 Tuesday.
The three bridges that connected Macao to Taipa islands are closed and no bus are circulating in the city.
The local winds will strengthen.
At 02:00, Typhoon Higos was located about 70 km south of Macao and moves toward the west of the Pearl River Estuary.
This means that the tropical cyclone continues to approach Macao.
Winds with a sustained speed of 63 to 117 km/h are expected or blowing and the gusts may exceed 180 km/h in Macao.
The Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau asks residents to lock doors and windows and strength the glass on the exposed side.
All schools will be suspended Wednesday.
“Stay indoors as far as possible. Stay away from exposed doors and windows. Continue to pay attention to the latest information on tropical cyclones”, said the authorities.
