The Government Information Bureau (GCS) plans to provide information about the government on Facebook and Instagram, Victor Chan Chi Ping, who heads both the Government Information Bureau (GCS) and the Government Spokesperson’s Office, said on Tuesday.

Addressing an annual Spring Festival media gathering at Macau Tower hosted by his bureau, Chan said the bureau would continue to strengthen co-operation with the local media, adding that the bureau planned to create a Facebook page and an Instagram account to provide information about the government using multiple channels.

Chan also said his bureau aimed to explain the government’s policies in plain language, adding that his bureau would continue to encourage government officials at all levels to explain their policies and measures on various media platforms.

According to Chan, the number of followers of his bureau’s overseas WeChat subscription account reached 10,457 at the end of last year. Chan also said his bureau posted a total of 832 updates on the subscription account last year, which received about 346,000 views.
