Galaxy Entertainment Group (GEG) said on Tuesday that it is launching a subsidy scheme for local schools and children at non-government subsidised nurseries amid the novel coronavirus pneumonia (NCP) epidemic.
In a statement on Tuesday, GEG said that the subsidy scheme, initiated by the Galaxy Entertainment Group Foundation, would provide a one-off subsidy of 30,000 patacas to over 30 local schools to carry out necessary infection prevention measures, and a one-off subsidy of 2,000 patacas to children at 20 non-government subsidised nurseries.
The statement said that the scheme was part of the foundation’s 25-million-pataca commitment to support the NCP infection prevention efforts in Macau and Hubei.
According to the statement, the foundation expects the subsidy to benefit over 900 families with babies or young children.
Earlier, GEG had donated disinfection and hygiene products to local associations to better prepare their staff who are assisting in the sales of facemasks to the public.
During the Chinese New Year, the company delivered facemasks, alcohol-based hand sanitizers and electronic thermometers to 40 elderly users of the Peng On Tung Tele-Assistance Service.
The statement said that the company would continue to work together with the government and the community, and strictly follow the authorities’ guidelines to carry out its preventive measures and other efforts.
