The artillery shell found at the Galaxy construction site has been passed to Cultural Affairs Bureau experts “for further analysis and research”.

According to preliminary measurements, the projectile is about 16 centimetres long and 7.6 centimetres in diameter. It was discovered some way away from the ancient cannons found earlier, also at Cotai.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau said that based on the location where the projectile was unearthed and its shape “it is preliminarily inferred that it has little to do with the ancient cannons unearthed in the Galaxy construction site”, TDM reported.

Independent observers who have seen photographs of the projectile suggest that it is more likely to date from the Second World War or later.
