Macao residents entering Zhuhai will continue to face mandatory 14-days quarantine until midnight tomorrow.

The decision was taken following a video conference between Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng, who had just returned from attending the National Games in Xi’an, and Zhuhai Municipal Government officials.

The mandatory quarantine rule was originally slated to have ended at 11:59 pm yesterday but the officials concluded that they should extend it for another 48 hours.

The mandatory quarantine rule was imposed by Zhuhai – which is currently hosting China Airshow 2021 – on Sunday at 6 am after Macao confirmed three new Covid-19 cases between Friday and Saturday, including two cases connected to an imported case.

Prior to the new rule, people who held a 24-hour negative nucleic acid test were allowed to cross the border quarantine-free between Saturday 6 am and Sunday 5:59 am.
