Two new community outpatient clinics opened on Monday, further easing the strain on the public hospital network.
Both clinics are located in the peninsula area. One in the northern district, just behind the Shell petrol station at Areia Preta. The other, is in the area of the white awning of Nam Van Lake, in the Sai Van Lake complex, on Praia Grande.
A total of 15 community outreach consultation clinics have been set up since 12 December, TDM reported.
According to the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre, since 12 December, more than 23,000 Covid-19 patients have been seen by doctors at the community outpatient clinics network. The number of consultations has been decreasing from a peak of around 3,000 daily patients in the past week to about 1,800 patients per day, during the Christmas weekend.
The Centre said that if those infected with mild symptoms – who have been assessed as receiving home isolation treatment on the self-assessment platform and scheduling of community outpatient consultation – feel their symptoms have changed, they can self-assess again online.
The Centre also urged residents not to abuse the ambulance service and to leave emergency medical resources to residents with urgent and special needs.
Christmas Eve saw the death of two more people infected with Covid-19. The fatalities were a 75-year-old man, who had received two doses of the vaccine, and a 77-year-old woman, who was not vaccinated.
