A Public Security Police Traffic Department deputy sergeant who leaked police information to a casino junket boss in exchange for cash and stays in luxury hotel suites with his wife is facing charges of bribe-taking and abuse of power.

Commission Against Corruption (CCAC) officers discovered that the sergeant had frequent contact with a casino VIP junket boss. The CCAC said that the deputy sergeant, whose surname and age were not revealed, had been illegally entering VIP rooms and providing police information to the boss in exchange for cash, free hotel stays and other benefits.

CCAC officers discovered large amounts of cash, as well as communication devices and documents at the deputy sergeant’s flat. The CCAC underlined that the mobile phones, documents, computers and other items are related to the case.

The suspect faces abuse-of-power and bribe-taking charges, while the junket boss faces a bribery charge. The case has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office. Both suspects have been released on bail and are required to report to the police on a regular basis.
