A foreign resident was arrested for attacking a nucleic acid test (NAT) station worker at Chino Plaza in Praça das Orquídea after he was criticised for queue jumping.

According to the Public Security Police (PSP), the man, who holds a Macao non-permanent ID card, is aged about 50. The PSP did not reveal the man’s nationality.

Police noted that the man upset other people who were waiting for their NATs by queue-jumping so staff members asked him to go to the end of the queue. However the man then punched one of the workers and attempted to flee the scene.

Police underlined that the worker was pushed to the ground, causing injuries to his hands, when he attempted to stop the man from leaving the station.

The man was arrested by police officers at the scene for causing bodily harm. A further investigation will be conducted as both parties involved have expressed their intention to take legal action, The Macau Post Daily reported.
