After a brief hiatus, when temperatures cooled during the passage of Typhoon Wipha, hot weather has returned to Macao and an amarelo (yellow) hot weather warning is in force.
The warning indicates that temperatures of 33°C and above are being recorded, and that it will be “hot continuously in Macao in the next couple of days,” according to the Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (known by its Portuguese initials SMG).
At 2:40 pm, the temperature had exceeded 32°C at all of the SMG’s measuring stations. The highest temperature, of 34.8°C, was recorded at Ka-Hó.

A “bad” air quality warning is also in effect, with vulnerable population groups – such as the elderly, children, and pregnant women – urged to limit outdoor exposure.
Meanwhile, meteorologists advise that tropical storm Co-may, located northwest of Luzon in the Philippines, is expected to move towards the sea east of Taiwan in the coming two days. Although the likelihood of it directly affecting Macao is low, the SMG says it will monitor Co-may’s development and movement.
Additionally, tropical storm Francisco is forecast to move across the seas in the vicinity of Ryukyu Islands, then move towards the coast of southeastern China and weaken.
