A strong northeast monsoon has reached the Southern China coast today, according to the Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG).

Macao’s temperature is expected to drop to as low as 14 degrees over the next two days as the city feels the effect of the dry cold air.

Earlier this morning at 7:40 am, Taipa Grande, the highest point in Taipa, recorded a temperature of 13.9 degrees, which is six degrees below the lowest temperature measured yesterday and the lowest temperature recorded since the start of autumn.

The SMG raised a strong monsoon signal early this morning.

It advised motorcyclists travelling to be cautious of gusts, and recommended that they travel on the Sai Van Bridge rather than the Amizade Bridge.

The weather is otherwise expected to be clear and very dry. By next week, however, the northeasterly winds will have weakened and the temperature is expected to gradually rise again.
