As Macao records seven continuous days of zero Covid-19 cases found in the community, and zero cases found in medical observation hotels registered over the past day, the city’s last Yellow Code Zone is set to open up tomorrow.
Leong Iek Hou, Head of the Health Bureau’s Communicable Disease Prevention and Control Division said today during the Covid-19 press conference that “We hope to announce new quarantine regulations for those arriving from outside Macao by early next month. At the moment we are working towards that decision.”
As the academic year is set to begin in September, the government will also be moving some of its nucleic acid testing (NAT) centres within schools to 20 outdoor locations – such as public parks – and government installations to allow schools to prepare for the resumption of classes.
During the stability phase which begins on Wednesday, people going into places – such as restaurants, beauty salons and tuition centres – which pose a higher risk of contracting Covid-19 will need to show a negative NAT result before entering, though exact measures will be announced at a later date.
No new Covid-19 cases were announced over the past day keeping the current tally at 1,821. Of these, most cases (1,116) have been asymptomatic. From the beginning of the 18 June outbreak, 1,363 patients have been released from hospital or observation, while 1,221 people remain under medical observation in hotels.
