Macao’s health authorities have added five new Yellow Code Zones today, with the total number of buildings assigned with yellow health code now standing at 13, the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre announced.
Three buildings among the 13 current Yellow Code Zones – Fong Son San Chun II (Block J, K), Edf. Kuan Wai and Edf. Man Fok Kok – were originally assigned with red codes but have since been reclassified as yellow zones. Health codes for residents in these three buildings are scheduled to return to green after a negative nucleic acid test (NAT) result taken on 8 December, when the buildings will reopen.
This week, local health authorities suddenly changed how buildings in Macao are classified red or yellow zones. Now a building will only be listed as a Red Code Zone if at least two households have been diagnosed with Covid-19, while a Yellow Code Zone means only one household in a building has been diagnosed with the disease.
In the case of a building being assigned with a yellow code, other residents living in the same building are now required to undergo four NATs within five days, without having the building locked down.
Under the new re-classification, there is currently no Red Code Zone in Macao.
