Everyone in Macao must take another self-administered rapid antigen test (RAT) and report the results online – the third since the latest Covid-19 outbreak flared up last weekend – both today and tomorrow (25 and 26 June; two RATs in total), the Novel Coronavirus Response and Coordination Centre has announced.

If the result is positive, residents must call an ambulance at once by contacting 119, 120 or 2857 2222. The individual will be taken to the Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre for a nucleic acid test (NAT), whether or not they are displaying  symptoms.

The affected individual and anyone living in the same place are not allowed to leave their home until an NAT is arranged for each of them by the health authorities.

The city completed its second citywide mass NAT this week at midnight last night, with 667,144 samples collected. Of these, 72 “10-in-1” pooled samples tested preliminary positive for Covid-19.

In the past two rounds of mass NATs, authorities have distributed a total of five RATs (three in the first round; two in the second round).

According to the Centre, these are sufficient to meet the number of RATs the government is requiring the population takes over the next two days. If individuals need to purchase additional tests, they are available at Macao pharmacies. Currently, 69 kinds of RATs have been approved for import by Macao’s Pharmaceutical Administration Bureau.
