Tim Chau (周振熙), CEO of Macao-based media company UO Group, is one of the 11 people arrested by police as part of a major investigation into alleged illegal gambling and money laundering that also netted Suncity boss Alvin Chau, according to Hong Kong online platform Citizen News.

Authorities only described one of the suspects placed under pre-trial detention as a 38-year-old male Hong Kong resident and senior executive surnamed Chau, however, Citizen News identified him as Tim Chau.

Founded in 2010, Macao-based UO is an e-commerce, media publishing, tourism and information technology company with branches in Zhuhai, Hong Kong and Taiwan. It is behind the online platform Exmoo News and is believed to employ more than 500 staff.

Tim Chau is understood to have a close business relationship with the Suncity founder, Alvin Chau, who is reported to have invested heavily in the media group. According to UO employees contacted by Citizen News, the group has delayed paying wages since the highly publicised arrests last weekend.
