The 17th Global Gaming Expo Asia (G2E Asia) and its non-gambling sister event, the 5th Asian Integrated Resort (IR) Expo, are scheduled to take place simultaneously at the Venetian Macao between 12 and 14 May.

At a press conference yesterday, the organiser Reed Exhibitions (RX) announced that both events would have a tech-based theme, with G2E Asia focusing on “AI, Robotics and New Digital Innovations for the Gaming Floor” and the Asia IR Summit delving into “Entertainment Technology.”

Around 8,000 industry leaders and experts from more than 90 countries and locations are set to participate in G2E Asia and the Asian IR Summit. The former is considered to be one of the largest casino trade shows in the region.

Both exhibitions will feature a combined floor space of more than 30,000 square metres, with around 150 brands set to showcase their offerings. They include the Macao branch of the Japanese gaming firm Angel Group, and overseas companies such as Konami Australia.

In keeping with this year’s tech theme, RX will introduce a number of new attractions, including G2E Asia’s Display and Gaming Entertainment Zone, which will showcase a variety of digital products and feature live demonstrations of tech innovations. AI-driven matchmaking events, robot shows and other tech-powered experiences will also be organised in this area.

Similarly, the Asian IR Summit will offer an even larger Technology Zone featuring two-days of talks on recent innovations and developments.

“This year’s joint events spotlight the innovative strategies and technologies driving this evolution [beyond traditional gaming],” said Yip Je Choong, RX’s senior vice president for commercial (Asia Pacific). “Attendees will gain actionable insights and discover new opportunities to stay ahead in an increasingly digital landscape.”

Talks will be a key component to the three-day events, with G2E Asia Conference featuring seminars on the Asian gambling market, gambling tech innovation, AI governance and sustainable development, as well as gambling regulations.

Meanwhile, the Asian IR Summit will explore topics relating to the IR and hospitality sectors, their use of technology, as well as the sports entertainment industry. Overall, the twin events will feature over 30 talks involving more than 50 speakers.

A variety of casino and IR professionals are set to attend the two events. They include the president and chief operating officer of Bloomberry Resorts Corporation and the Solaire Resort in the Philippines, Gregory Hawkins; Citi Research’s global head of gaming research, George Choi; and the chairman of the e-sports firm NIP Group, Mario Ho.

First inaugurated in 2007, G2E Asia has established itself as one of the longest-running and most successful gaming exhibitions and conferences in Asia. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the event underwent a three-year hiatus before returning to the SAR in 2023 alongside the first Asian IR Expo.
