Businesses in Macao will be able to take advantage of an Electronic Trademark Registration Certificate starting next Monday, which the Economic and Technology Development Bureau (DSEDT) is launching to optimise the city’s e-government.
When applicants log into the bureau’s website via their Macao One Account to submit the application for registration of their trademark, they can opt to receive the e-registration certificate via their Macao One Account.
The electronic registration certificate has the same legal status as a paper one.
After registration is approved, the applicant can view and download the electronic trademark registration certificate through the “My Licence” function.
Macao One Account users can scan the Macao One Account’s QR code on the registration certificate to verify its legal status, while trademark right holders and interested parties can scan the DSEDT QR code to check the registration certificate’s information, The Macau Post Daily reported.
