Keen Macao shoppers have been the driving force behind apparel company Bauhaus International’s quarterly growth, Hong Kong’s Standard newspaper reports.
Sales for the Hong Kong-headquartered business grew by 12 percent in the fourth quarter of last year, with sales from its Macao stores increasing by 78 percent when compared with the same period in 2022.
Meanwhile, sales within Hong Kong reportedly rose by a comparatively minuscule one percent.

In the past nine months, Bauhaus has decreased its number of stores by four. It currently has 28 outlets in Hong Kong and seven in Macao.
The company’s net profits also plummeted by more than 40 percent, year-on-year, according to interim results ending in September 2023.
Founded in 1991, Bauhaus sells women’s and men’s clothing and accessories to fashionable younger buyers.
